Hives New Album "Lex Hives"

Streaming now on their Facebook page.

InstaReview:

Come On - Annoying but mercifully short
Go Right Ahead - Almost as annoying but longer.
1000 Answers - If they write a thousand songs, one's gotta be good; but not this one.
I Want More - I don't, please.
Wait a Minute - Not bad.
Patrolling Days - Almost good.
Take Back the Toys - See song 3.
Without the Money - Coulda been a contender
These Spectacles Reveal the Nostalgics - Best of the bunch.
My Time is Coming - Likeable too.
If I Had a Cent - Pretty good.
Midnight Shifter - Cool title, mediocre song.

Well, Bamboozle 2012 has occurred.  Looks like everyone had a grand time.  See links below for various accounts of the proceedings:

NJ .com article here.  As you'd expect, a Bon Jovi-centric review.  They basically wrote it up as a Bon Jovi show, not sure they even mentioned another band by name.

My favorite quote: " And unlike the other artists who drew enormous crowds to the boardwalk and beach this weekend, Bon Jovi does not compete for attention."  I don't even know what that means....

Fuse.TV put out a few pieces on the festival including a photo album and a collection of quotes by the likes of Dave Grohl and Brian Fallon (The Gaslight Anthem).  See all the Fuse articles on the festival here.

A quick sampler here courtesy of Fuse:

Caption: If you're gonna play acoustic, just sit and strum please.

Caption: Uhh, ok Dave, we get it, you rock.

Caption: Nice shirt, you reject.

Iggy Pop Going Digital.....

Industry blog Midem recently published an interview with Iggy Pop's online distributor, Believe Digital regarding Iggy's decision to ditch his traditional label (EMI) and go direct-to-fan to distribute his new venture.

My favorite Iggy quote from the piece: "What has a record company ever done for me but humiliate and torment and drag me down?”

Kurt Cobain Was Recording Solo "White Album" at Death

At least that's the word according to former Hole guitarist Eric Erlandson.  Eric is quoted over at Fuse TV  stating that "Kurt Cobain was recording new songs at the time of his death that transcended anything he’d written so far."

Here's an excerpt:" That’s why I was really sad [when he died]. I was like, ‘Oh man, not only are you cutting off a life, but a message to the world, a musical path is just left with … Bush and all this other stuff."

Hey fuck you Eric, I like Bush.....
